Clarinol® XS is a unique weight management aid. It is an inhibitor to the activity of the enzyme lipoprotein lipase (LPL). This enzyme transfers fats from the bloodstream to the fat cells.
The following answers may provide useful information about Clarinol® XS – its role in weight management, its mechanism of action, how it should be used, its effects on weight loss and related metabolic and cardiovascular morbidities.

Q: How does Clarinol® Xs Work?
Clarinol® XS works by reducing body fat by preventing fat accumulation in fat cells. CLA is found in the diet, but diet alone will not provide enough CLA to experience health benefits.

What does CLA do to reduce body fat?
1.Clarinol® inhibits the activity of the enzyme lipoprotein lipase (LPL). This enzyme transfers fats from the bloodstream to the fat cells. As a result of the decreased enzyme activity the transport of fat into fat cells is blocked.
2.At the same time Clarinol® CLA also stimulates the breakdown of stored body fat (lipolysis).
3.And additional studies have shown that CLA increases the disintegration of cells (apoptosis), resulting in a decreased number of existing fat cells.

What does CLA do to increase muscle mass?
Clarinol® increases the activity of the enzyme carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT). CPT is present in the skeletal muscles and is responsible for the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria. Energy production in the body takes place in the mitochondria. Fat can be used as fuel for energy production. With an increased activity of CPT in the skeletal muscle, CLA increases the transport of fat into the mitochondria. All these steps elevate the beta-oxidation, thus helping the body to burn more fat.
Physical activity stimulates the fat transport from the bloodstream or the fat cell, to be burned in the muscle cell.

With no extra fat coming in to store in the fat cells and increased burning of stored fat, the size of these cells is reduced. Using Clarinol® XS in combination with a sensible diet and moderate exercise can lead to an improved body shape.

Q: Which patients are appropriate candidates for Clarinol® Xs therapy?
Clarinol® XS is indicated for obesity management, including weight loss and weight maintenance when used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet, and for reduction of the risk of weight regain after prior weight loss. Clarinol® XS is indicated for obese patients with an initial body mass index (BMI) of >30, or >27 in the presence of other risk factors (eg, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia )

Q: What is the optimal dose for Clarinol® Xs?
For best results, it is recommended to have 3-4 capsules per day.

Q: When should Clarinol® Xs be taken in relation to a meal?
Clarinol® XS should be taken 3 times a day, with water just before or with the meal.

Q: How long should patients take Clarinol® Xs?
The ingredient Clarinol® CLA in Clarinol® XS has been evaluated in many long-term (up to 2 years) clinical studies to assess obesity management, including fat loss, weight maintenance and minimizing the risk of weight regain. Studies have shown that Clarinol® CLA is effective from after 8 weeks.

Q: How soon after Clarinol® therapy is initiated does weight loss start?
Weight loss was observed within 4 weeks of initiation of therapy.

Q: Does Clarinol® Xs help maintain weight?
